, otoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, etcMaintains general appearance and cleanliness of examination rooms as well as keeping the rooms well stockedSterilizes instruments and maintains diagnostic equipment in appropriate working orderFollows established OSHA guidelines for cleaning and disposing of hazardous materialsProvides direct patient care within MAPS' protocols for clinical assistantsAssists nurses and providers in doing procedures per protocolsTriages phone calls relating to patient care from patients, nursing home nurse practitioners, hospitals, other physician offices, labs, and pharmacies as requested by clinical coordinatorAdministers injection per protocolsPerforms procedures as directedPerforms phlebotomy as necessaryEnsures that all lab requisitions have diagnoses noted according to protocolPrepares and replenishes suppliesMaintains specific inventories and informs office practice coordinator when inventory needs to be orderedGreets patients, determines their medical needs, and responds accordinglyPrepares new patient charts and records basic statistical dataRecords patient complaints and vital signs in an accurate manner at all timesPrepares and drapes patient as appropriate for examination and assists with examination as requested by the physicianDispenses or administers medications and injections as directed by the physician and under supervision of the physicianAccurately records all medication stock used and informs office practice coordinator when stocks need to be replenishedAssists in the collection of specimensInstructs patient regarding preparation for various tests when necessaryRecords and maintains laboratory, x-ray, and EKG data in patient records as necessarySchedules patients for special procedures as directed or ordered by the physicianNotifies clerical staff when referrals are necessary and informs patients when special preparations are neededTriages phone calls for the physicianPhones in prescriptions under the direction of the physicianInforms patients via phone or in person of test results, physician messages, etcCounsels patients on various health maintenance and health-related issues, as directed by the physician (i.

Qualifications:
High school graduateMinimum of one year's experience as a medical assistant in a medical practice environment desirableCertification as a medical assistant desirableKnowledge of medical terminology, word processing equipment, and personal computersTwo years of experience in a busy medical practice settingAbility to perform multiple tasks simultaneouslyKnowledge of pre-admission and pretesting requirements helpfulWorking knowledge of insurance regulations and form completionAbility to be trained in CPT and ICD10 codingKnowledge of billing system helpfulMust be certified or willing to be certified in CPRExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and follow directionsEffective telephone manner and ability to communicate with patients, physicians, and other professional staffWord processing skills requiredActs as a lead medical assistant within Department of Urology, leads process improvement initiativesWorks with manager/director to enhance patient experience by working on pre-visit planning and enhancing training/skill set of other medical assistants in the officeSuccessful candidate has a positive attitude and wants to do whatever it takes to make the department succeed! Epic experience is a plus!
